JRTC Board Meeting Notes

 

What follows are the notes from the May 8, 2018 meeting of the Jackson River Technical Center Joint Board of Control. You are encouraged to contact Eugene Kotulka if you have questions regarding this information.

 

Present: Cindy Bennett (Covington City), Eddy Clemons (Covington City), Jennifer Seckner (Alleghany County), Gerald Franson (Alleghany County), Craig Lane (Alleghany County), Randy Tucker (Alleghany County), Glenn Spangler (JRTC Director), Christy Armentrout (Clerk), Shannon Fuhrman (Covington City) and Eugene Kotulka (Alleghany County Superintendent)

 

1.     The minutes of the April meeting were approved.

2.     Mr. Spangler reported CHS senior last day will be Friday, May 11, and the AHS seniors will finish on May 15. The JRTC end of year picnic and awards will be Friday May 11 and all were invited to attend. The awards will be presented around 1:20 or 1:30 p.m.

3.     Mr. Spangler presented a copy of the proposed 2018-19 School Calendar.  He noted that when possible JRTC was utilizing AHS teacher work days to be open for CHS students. The calendar was approved by unanimous vote.

4.     Mr. Spangler presented the proposed budget and salary scales for the 2018-19 school year. The budget was approved by unanimous vote.

5.     The Board went into Executive Session to discuss Personnel Matters.  Upon returning to open session, the Board accepted the resignation of Vanessa Givens, Nurse Aide Instructor, effective June 30, 2018. The following personnel was also approved for 2018-19:

                Stephen D. O’Byrne                Maintenance Mechanic

               

                Reappointment on Continuing Contract:  Paul E. Graham, Mark T. Hamelman, James L. Huffman, Glenn M. Spangler

 

                Reappointment on Provisional Contract: Jimmy W. Fridley, Kenneth B. Starcher, and Windell A. Gibson

 

7.  Bills in the amount of $51,886.83 were approved.   Bills and salaries in the amount of     

     $84,626.34 were also paid in accordance with approved salary and benefit schedules.

Present: Bert Baker (Covington City), Cindy Bennett (Covington City), Eddy Clemons (Covington City), Jennifer Seckner (Alleghany County), Gerald Franson (Alleghany County), Craig Lane (Alleghany County), Glenn Spangler (JRTC Director), Christy Armentrout (Clerk), Melinda Snead-Johnson (Covington City Superintendent) and Mary Jane Mutispaugh (Alleghany County Director of Instruction)

 

1.  The Board went into Executive Session to discuss Personnel Matters.  Upon returning to open session, the Board approved Esther Allman for the Early Childhood Education Teacher position, and Shannon Fogus for the Marketing Teacher position.
