JRTC Board Meeting Notes

 

What follows are the notes from the July 10, 2018 meeting of the Jackson River Technical Center Joint Board of Control. You are encouraged to contact Eugene Kotulka if you have questions regarding this information.

 

Present: Eddy Clemons (Covington City), Bert Baker (Covington City), Gerald Franson (Alleghany County), Jennifer Seckner (Alleghany County), Randy Tucker (Alleghany County), Jacob Wright (Alleghany County), Glenn Spangler (JRTC Director), Christy Armentrout (Clerk), Melinda Snead-Johnson (Covington City Superintendent) and Jan Hobbs (Alleghany County Dir. of Assessment and Accountability) in the absence of Eugene Kotulka (Alleghany County Superintendent)

 

1.    The board held their reorganization elections. Jacob Wright was elected as Chair.  Jennifer Seckner was elected as Vice-Chair.  Christy Armentrout was appointed as Clerk and Melody Weese  
 was appointed as Deputy Clerk.   

2.    The minutes of June 12, 2018 were approved. 

3.     Mr. Spangler commended maintenance staff for getting the building ready for opening of school.

4.     Mr. Spangler reported Hannah Wolfe placed 16th out of 37 welders at the rent SKILLS USA National Competition in Kentucky.  She competed in the post-graduate category.

5.    Mr. Spangler discussed enrollment numbers, noting he did not have Covington’s information yet.  Mr. Baker commented block scheduling at Covington High School may increase enrollment at      
 JRTC. 

6.  Year-end bills in the amount of $19,376.33 and July bills in the amount of $2,418.90 were approved for payment. Salaries and bills in the amount of $76,663.32 were also paid in accordance
      with approved salary and benefit schedules.
