Alleghany County School Board Appoints Superintendent


At a called meeting on June 2, 2015, the Alleghany County School Board appointed Eugene P. Kotulka to serve as the division superintendent, effective July 1, 2015. Mr. Kotulka was also appointed to serve as the Acting Superintendent from June 15 through June 30, 2015.

Mr. Kotulka received his Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University.He has been in education for 35 years, including teaching for 20 years and administration at the building and central office level for the past 15 years. His most recent position was Director of Student Services in Orange County, Virginia.

When asked about his appointment as Superintendent, Mr. Kotulka stated, “I am extremely excited to be joining the Alleghany County Public Schools family. During the interview process, it was obvious

to me that members of the Alleghany County Public Schools School Board are committed to the children of Alleghany County to provide all the children with the best education possible.”

School Board Chairman Randy Tucker stated, “The Board has looked very diligently for several months to find the best candidate, and in doing so we are proud to announce Eugene Kotulka as the new superintendent of Alleghany County Public Schools. Mr. Kotulka brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from Orange County, and we look forward to him assuming the role of Superintendent on June 15."
