SUBJECT

School Anti-Bullying Campaigns

RATIONALE

The following is a brief summary of the Anti-Bullying Prevention Campaigns that have occurred, or are currently occurring, in each school in October:

 

AHS:

  1. Choices Assembly thru CSB (Sept. 21) – topics included bullying, vaping, and positive decision-making.
  2. “Stomp Out Bullying” – pledge to end bullying at AHS by signing the lockers outside the cafeteria.
  3. Daily quotes/facts pertaining to anti-bullying on the morning and afternoon announcements
  4. “See Something/Say Something” Initiative – posters and continued announcements to report potential bullying to teachers, counselors, coaches, and/or administrators
  5. School Counselor Outreach/Classroom Lessons – counselors visit classes to educate students on the differences between “social conflicts” and bullying

 

CMS:

  1. School Counselor Outreach/Classroom Lessons – counselors visit homerooms to discuss bullying and its impacts as well as show short video clips that will be pushed out to all Chromebooks.
  2. “I Promise to Stop Bullying” – pledge to end bullying at CMS by signing pledge cards which will be hung around the school
  3. Daily quotes/facts pertaining to anti-bullying on the morning announcements
  4. World Day of Bullying Prevention (October 7) – everyone encouraged to wear blue.

 

CES:

  1. See attachment

 

MVES:

  1. Omegaman Assembly (October 16) – topics included were PBIS, bullying prevention, making good choices, character building, and academic excellence. Students will dress up as superheroes on this day too
  2. “Choose Kind, Share a Smile” – t-shirts were ordered with this slogan for all faculty members to wear on Fridays throughout the month of October
  3. School Counselor Outreach/Classroom Lessons – bullying prevention lessons in grades 2-5 every Friday and grades K-1 on Tuesdays
  4. “Be the I in Kind” – posters placed throughout the building with students posing where the “i” goes in “Kind” for pictures

 

SES:

  1. School Counselor Outreach/Classroom Lessons – instruction and discussions on bullying v. teasing and “See Something/Say Something”
  2. Proactive Prevention Strategies – teacher facilitated class discussions on how to prevent bullying
  3. Anti-Bullying Pledge – students sign the pledge during lunch. Pledge displayed in the hallway
