OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION FROM THE ALLEGHANY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

At approximately 12:25 p.m. on November 14, 2019, the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that a former Alleghany High School student was threatening to come to Alleghany High School to do harm to himself in front of other students. The sheriff’s office immediately notified the school division of this situation. As a precaution, all Alleghany County Public Schools were placed in lock-out status (shelter in place).

 

At approximately 1:50 p.m. the sheriff’s office notified school administration that the suspect in question was in custody. The lock-out was subsequently lifted and school functions returned to normal. Questions or concerns regarding this matter may be directed to the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office.
